Geoff Cassell

Board Member

Geoff Cassell began lifeguarding at Jones Beach in 1980 and has been a dedicated member of the Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps for more than four decades. A three-time All-American swimmer and the 1981 New York State Swimming MVP, Geoff competed for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1981 to 1985, serving as team captain during the 1984–1985 season.

As one of the original members of the Jones Beach Rescue Watercraft Team, Geoff helped pioneer modern ocean rescue operations and continues to advance the Corps’ excellence as a New Hire Instructor for the JBLC.

Beyond the beach, Geoff has spent over 25 years coaching youth, travel, high school, and collegiate women’s lacrosse, fostering teamwork, discipline, and personal growth in every athlete. A certified Red Cross CPR provider and proud member of the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA), Geoff remains deeply committed to public safety and athletic development.

A lifelong competitor and mentor, Geoff is also the proud father of three college athletes.
