The Jones Beach Lifeguard Association brings together generations of lifeguards who have protected Long Island’s State Park beaches since 1929, building on a legacy that now includes more than 500 guards in the Long Island region today. Rooted in nearly a century of courage, professionalism, and public service, the association supports programs that promote swim safety, develop and recruit the next generation of lifeguards, and enhance training to meet the demands of today’s crowded shorelines. By honoring historic achievements, recognizing outstanding service, and creating yearround opportunities for active and alumni guards to connect, the association works to deepen public appreciation for the men and women whose vigilance has helped make Long Island’s beaches among the safest and most iconic in the nation.
The Jones Beach Lifeguard Association is dedicated to honoring, supporting, and uniting the men and women who have safeguarded Long Island’s beaches since 1929. Through education, advocacy, and community initiatives, we promote water safety, advance lifeguard training and recruitment, celebrate service and camaraderie among active and alumni guards, and increase public awareness of the proud legacy of lifesaving that defines Long Island’s State Parks.
